After the Blade of Olympus was created and the Titans were banished to the Tartarus the pit of torment, Poseidon was given dominion over all seas. With Poseidon further electrocuting Atlas, Hades was able to capture the Titan's soul, making him stronger. Hades reacted swiftly and with his fiery chains he grasped onto Atlas. After Atlas saved his uncle Cronos from having his soul captured by Hades, Atlas was electrocuted by Poseidon's thunder, bringing him to his knees. During a great battle between the Gods and the Titans, Poseidon aided his brother Hades to bring down the mighty Atlas. When he was released, he fought alongside his brother, Zeus, in the Great War of the Gods and Titans. Like most of his siblings, Poseidon was swallowed by the Titan King Cronos. When she was later beheaded by the hero Perseus, Chryasor and Pegasus emerged. Angered by the blasphemy but unable to harm Poseidon, Athena changed Medusa into a Gorgon. In the known Greek Mythos, he raped Medusa on the floor of one of Athena's temples. Like his youngest brother Zeus, Poseidon was known for having many human lovers. Poseidon and Amphitrite, a nymph and ancient sea-goddess and daughter of Oceanus, had many children including Triton, the messenger of the sea and herald to Amphitrite, Theseus, the cyclops Polyphemus, and Orion the giant master hunter. Linear B tablets show that Poseidon was venerated at Pylos and Thebes in pre-Olympian Greece, but he was integrated into the Olympian gods as the middle brother of Hades and Zeus and fifth of all of his siblings, generally considered a little less powerful than Zeus. In Roman mythology, he was known as Neptune.
